Treatment for Documentary: Barber Shops

Documentary on American American Barber Shops: How Current Shops Came To Be:

The basic concept of this documentary is to have the audience witness and experience what it is like to run a barber shop.
   -Im going to document the day-to-day routine of running 3-4 barber shops in this area and give some like to what it took for the owners to open those barber shops.
-I want the viewer to see what it is like to be a customer at the barber shop
*I will interview a couple of and ask them what do they feel about the barber shop and the barbers.
*Ask customer:
-do they have a favorite barber
-how many timea month do they come to the barber shop
- howmuch do they think they spend a month/year on haircuts/or hair do's

Shooting:
I want to use freehands and a tripod.
* if i use freehands i can get in places that a tripod can not.
* i will use the tripod when i want to get a steady still hand from a wide distance.
* if i want to get a more personal shot and close up i will use freehands.
Angles
* i will start shooting from outside the barber shop and i will shoot myself standing in front of and giving a little introduction about the barber shop.
* while i am giving an introduction about the barber shops i will also let the viewers know what i will be doing(interviewing) in the barber shop.
Lighting
* i wont be using any prop lights because i want to get the nature lighting in the shops
* i will also use the nature lighting of the sun
* i might use one key light for the subject faces
Editing
* i wont do much editing
* maybe ill do a montage
* i may use simple effects

I will keep it simple its just a 2 minutes documentary

"I Wanna Learn!" Part 1

I would like to learn how to shoot while moving in an automobile on the highway.
-are the cars even moving?
-where would i put the prop car when im shooting, in from of a green screen?
-where can i get a giant green screen from, or could i use lime green construction paper?
I would also like to learn how to use different color lights and filters.
I would like to learn how to make a sample video look like a dramatic or action movie.
I also would like to learn how to move and shoot steadily at the same time without a tripod like camera men do.
I would also like to learn how to structure a video in a short amount a time in the proper way.

Three-point lighting is simply the fresh format for lighting that isn’t hard to understand and offers you a fast and well-mannered light setup. The straight forward concept is pretty simple. You have three lights, called the key, the fill, and the rim. The key is the inspired light source in the scene, or main light source. The fill light is the light that corrects and softens the key’s shadow. It basically fills in the shadows. The rim is the light that highlights and separates the subject from the background. This concept can help you in a real life situation. When you are setting up the lighting start with the main subject or subjects and figure out what your central light is coming from. Some times it may be obvious what the source is, because it is shown with the scene or it can be the sun coming from the sky. You might have to make up where the light is coming from. Creating new sources where the light is coming from is a decision for the artist, or producer. All the fill light does is to soften the shadow (fill shadows in) of the Key. You may have to use lights from multiple points to motivate the fill and soften the shadows of the key. Fill lighting can be used out of its traditional settings. Different circumstances calls for different usages of the technique. Observing carefully what light does in real life can help you easily understand and use this theory. The rim lighting is the creative practice of separating the subject from the background. A rim light is not always required. Some times it doesn’t always have a natural look within a shot. Switching back and forth from fill light to key light will probably be needed when you start getting more detailed and creative. In most cases you will end up using the concept/theory in a non-traditional way, breaking the rules and doing what makes your video come out the way you wanted it. I often start with three lights on a given subject then split those lights apart to cover the entire scene. When you think about the number of props and subjects, what’s going on in the scenes, and the lighting style; you will find out that you can never have enough lights.

Lyrics-Illustration: The visual track telling the story of the lyrics.

Yes, what was accuring in the video goes along, and harmonizes with the lyrics. The story is about one singer who in the video is a suspect that catches hard time and gets sent to prison until a friend (which is another singer in the song) bails him out. The plot in the video basically uses the basic biblical storytelling structure expect it skips the beginning part about grace and life being good. The video starts out with the second part of the storytelling structure about falling from grace. In the "falling from grace" part the singer is in prison. The second half of the video is the part about "returning to grace" and the singer is bailed out of prison by his friend which is the other singer in the video.

Lyrics-Amplification: The track's visual amplifying and giving more or new meaning to the lyrics

Yes, in the beginning and in majority of the scenes you would shake and vibrate to the bass of the song. When certain words or phrases were said the performers in the video would make a certain gesture in a scene that is colored and lit a certain way to complement that certain line, word or phrase that was or is being said in the lyrics. 

Lyrics-Disjecture: Contrast in the lyrics and the video

To an extend there was some contrast because part of the chorus says "tupac's back," on the contrary he is not back because Tupac Amaru Shakur died on 9/13/96. The scenes in the chorus showed clips of Tupac. So there is contracts with the lyric in some parts of the video but mostly the video goes withe the lyrics.

Yes, but it could have enhanced it more if Tupac was actually in the video.

Google Privacy Policy Googled

It(google search engine) is a creeper. It not only goes out into the world wide web of "everything" and possibly come back with anything or the information you were looking for, but it also spys around in your computer and devices, and your life. Google literally finds your time zone and location. It hunts down and finds this information to help them market to you and advertise to you.


All the searching and information gathering is not favorable for other and it is significant for others. I am having a bit of mixed feelings about google's searching habit because i do not like them to spy on me and snoop around in my business but i do like how it goes and gathers information on what i am looking for.


Google policy says that yes they are collecting all this information from you but it is for your own good. They say that they are not giving or sharing your information with anybody other than them selves. They are simply organizing your information so you or "other people"(lol) can easily find it. The funniest part is that they said they are not the ones handling your information you are. They are only collecting and organizing for you and you are the one managing it. As long as they follow the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act i don't care if they store and organize my data.


I don't really have a problem with it because i feel like Google and Yahoo both collect and save your info and date, but some people and organizations do not like Google and/or their privacy policies. A little bit i think that Google and Yahoo are together with or by the government in this plot of data collection and i think that is all fine. However, others do not. The others are organizations like SafeGov.org who says that Google policy changes jeopardizes government information. Some "others" are Microsoft who says things like their privacy policy is better but their policy states that they will give your information to other microsoft services and company.(http://googlepublicpolicy.blogspot.com/2012/02/busting-myths-about-our-approach-to.html)
It's all about trust and i trust that Google is doing the right thing with my info. 

COMM 333 MUSIC VIDEO: first music video

Track:  the song is already produced, holy moly 2.0 is the track.
Division: i divided it hook(chorus), verse, hook, verse, hook, verse hook


The song is  called Holy Moly, i picked that name because i wanted a corny catchy name. The song is about investing. It has a very sick beat or instrumental

My video concept is to have scens of me acting out situations from the songs. I also wanted to have girls dressed as angels holding up a platter of something that i need like my car key, or my wallet or a document that said i got approved. I want to have the scenes flipping back and forth from normal to sketched out images and animation of the scenes.

I also want to have a scene of just me & my home boys bopping their heads to the songs, and a scene of a girl(s) playing the trumpet and saxaphone because those are some of the sounds in the beat.

The scene for the hook(chorus) will be me and my home boys singing(lip singing) the hook. I want to have a scene in the store, and a scene in the courthouse. In the courthouse scene the judge will be dropping my charges. In the store scene i would have lost my wallet and the angel will bring it to me on platter.



Themes:
-One of the themes of the video is to show people in every and any situation bouncing and bopping their heads to the song because the beat is nice.
-Another theme is for me to be on a scavenger hunt and the angels come to me and have them bring me things that i need to get me from point A to point B and so on.
-The last them is for me to be in different situations of other people's lives and bring thing something help from God as if i was an angel. For example I would be bring somebody their spear car keys when they are locked out their car. For example I would bring to the courthouse for someone the piece of evidence that can keep them out of jail.


One last scene that i want is one of cars speeding by. This scene will be for the last verse because i have a line about jaguars and nascar.

This is my first music video so i will just experiment with one of those themes and see what happens

COMM 203: What is Hermeneutic

     Hermeneutic is a critical study of how knowledge of interpretation works. Hermeneutic also involves the philosophy of how interpretation works. Hermeneutic is more board and in depth then you can described in just one sentence. It is deeper than that. See hermeneutic is not just a word but it is also the name of someone. It is the name of the philosopher from around 500 b.c.e somewhere in Greece. His name is Herman, and his last name is Neutic. This guy Herman Neutic had something to do with langage and grammar. Hermeneutic is the science and philosophy of how you analyze, translate, and interprete text, signs and other media. When you use hermeneutic you will have to do some type of translation. You will be translating something into meaning. I guess we can say that we as humans use hermeneutic everyday because every second in every day we are translating things into meaning. When we read we are translating symbols like letters into word and then translating those words into sentences. We then translate those sentences into thoughts that has meaning. We also translate pictures and all sorts of things into images. We also interpret whatever we see, hear, witness, experience, et cetra into meanings that leads to a translation of another meaning. Like if you translate the weather being cloudy with a chance of rain it will mean that you need a rain coat, rain boots, umbrella or all three. Say if you interpret your stomach growling into you being hungry and then you interpret Digiorno discounted pizza on a commercial as way to save money and get good eats, and then you interpret the instructions as way to cook it, then you interpret your stomach being full and filled as an indication that it is time to put the left over Digiorno back in the refrigerator. When we use hermeneutic we are using critical theory in how we think and give meaning to things we encounter, experience and witness in the unconscious and subconscious. Hermeneutic is a daily aspect of the human routine in life. It is also a big part of communicating in society and in media. An example of hermeneutics being used in a social situation is in a case where the girl is trying to see if her boyfriend really cares and she starts to look sad like in hope that her boyfriend will interpret that as a time to hold and cuddle her and ask her what is wrong. In this same example the girlfriend and boyfriend are in an argument and the girl threatens to leave in hopes that the boyfriend would interpret that as a sign indicating that it is time to plead and fight for her not to break up with him.  


The five types of hermeneutics(we use) are:
Depth - ask more questions, employers like an inquisitive learner
Natural - knowing electricity can get hot you can prevent fires
Scientific - interpreting that the ground will be more slick after it rains
Philosophical - you only use a certain tone of color because it symbolizes something meaningful
Normative - Knowing what is legal and illegal
